Like every year, lots of candidates appear for the Kerala PSC Exams 2011 in order to get a good job in Kerala Govt. departments and institutes.

Here are some commonly asked questions and answers to give you basic information on the Kerala PSC Exams

What is the Kerala PSC Exam?

The Kerala Public Service Commission Exam (known as Kerala PSC Exam in short) is an exam conducted by the Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC), an official Government organisation of the State Govt. of Kerala.

The KPSC exam is for those candidates aspiring to get a job in a State Govt. organisation, a Govt. authority office, a Govt. Institute, etc. In short, recruitment for Kerala State Govt. jobs can be applied for via a KPSC exam. Of course, various departments of the Govt. of Kerala have varying exams for recruitments to posts in their departments. That is to say, each exam has a different format and syllabus, depending on the job for which the exam is being set.

Does the Kerala PSC Exam guarantee a job?

No, just because you pass a KPSC exam does not guarantee that you will get a job. The recruitment of candidates is generally made on the basis of his/her rank which is secured in the ranked list prepared on the basis of the marks obtained during the exams. You will then also have to appear for an interview for the requisite job. Some KPSC recruitments are also done through a group discussion in addition to the interview after successfully passing the KPSC exam. For certain recruitment, such as for posts of firemen, there is likely to be a physical fitness test involving athletic races and/or other types of tests to check fitness levels of the candidate.

It should be noted that sometimes there is a huge number of applications for Kerala Govt. jobs. In such cases, the KPSC may decide to reduce the number of candidates who will be called for a personal interview for the job & decide solely on the basis of the exam marks & qualifications or some other basis.

Where and when are Kerala PSC exam notifications published?

The KPSC places notifications for recruitment in Kerala Gazette, in the PSC Bulletin and in major newspapers in the State of Kerala. You can also check out the official KPSC website for such notifications. These notifications are published only when the KPSC is informed by the official authority/department of vacancies in their organizations.
