Kudumbasree Travels is the new malayalam movie directed by debutant Kiran who is popular for his television serial 'Ettu Sundharikalum Njanum'. The director himslef written the story and screen play of the movie. The film is a family entertainer with good comedy and performances from the leading actors. The director tried situation comedies in the film and most time it worked well. The film narrated in 90's style with a marriage, the happenings related with it and a funny climax with 'adipidi'. But,the film manages to get the attention from the viewers and they don't get bored too. The film is directed in a funny way that the firsthalf and the post interval getting good comedies.
Story of Kudumbasree Travels
The story of Kudumbasree Travels go with the simple peoples lived in the Chithirapuram Village. The village has only one way to reach the city- Kudumbasree Travels, an old bus. Aravindan(Jayaram) is a chakyarkoothu artiste from Chithirapuram who had many programs in hand. He and his family's ambition is to find a Nangyarkooth artist for Aravindan. Pachu(Jagathy) is Aravindan's Uncle and he wants Aravindan to get married to his daughter. Now, Aravindan's marriage is fixed with Aswathy(Bhavana) whose house in Kochi. All the family members and friends along with Aravindan started their journey to Kochi for attending the marriage in Kudumbasree Travels. Pachu and his fellow man(Maniyanpilla Raju) also follows them for preventing the marriage. They met with some unexpected incidents during the journey which forms the film.Performances
Jayaram in Kudumbasree Travels excelled with his new look without mush. He handled the comedy with ease. Bhavana has also got an important character which she did well. She looked very cute in the movie with some good costumes. Jagathy-Maniyanpilla Raju combination is another highlight of the film. This is after a long time, we seeing Maniyanpilla Raju in such a role. All the other supporting cast performed well with their roles. The only drawback i felt is the inclusion of some unwanted characters who disappears after some time.Direction,Songs,Editing
The debutant director Kiran manages to end with an average presentation in the movie Kudumbasree Travels. Considering this is his first directorial venture, let us hope for the best in his next film. The story and screen play by the director himself has some good comedy tracks. But there is no 'real story' in this film. There is only one song composed by Bijipal in the film which is good. There are so many situations for putting songs in the movie, thus the director misses a golden opoortunity to attract more family audience. The other technical performaces are strictly average, whether it is the Editing by V.T.Sreejith or the camera by Murali Raman, both of them could have been better. The costumes by Sameera Saneesh makes a special mention with some eyepleasing costumes.Postives
