Camping is just picking up in India as an outdoor recreation. Camping was thought to be meant only for the adventure sports people like trekkers, hikers and rafters etc. Now slowly family camping and weekend camping are picking up and people are coming out slowly but surely.

About Camping in India

Camping is probably the best way to enjoy nature at its best. You can enjoy the serenity of the nature with your friends and relatives which will relax and rejuvenate you all. You can just getaway from the mundane and hectic day to day life in the city and spend the week ends in the lap of nature.
Camping is an out door recreational activity, you leave your work places , get together as a group or as a family and enjoy nature while spending some time or for that matter some nights, if you like, at the camp site.

Camping is not only for the campers or for the people just trying to stay the night out doors, it is also useful for the Rafters, Hikers, Backpackers, Trekkers, people going for fishing tours, nature tours, education tours and many more. You can camp as families, friends etc or go for weekend camping at the wild life sanctuaries and winter camps as well.

Family camping is the best in these days when quality time with the children is most needed. without television and the mobiles all will be there together enjoying each other's company. Children will develop more understanding and affection towards their parents as well as nature.

Weekend camping is a choice for those who really need to break free from the schedule of daily life.

What is a camp site?

A camp site is a place where campers use to stay over night in the out doors. The word generally means an area which can be used to stay overnight as a group of family members, relatives, friends, even the military camps out.
Camp site can also be referred to an impromptu place where the hikers and backpackers pitch their tents and stay the night while they are hiking or trekking.

Permanent structures and the basic amenities needed for camping

Nowadays many areas are dedicated for camping and permanent structures are built to improve tourism in the area. They have dedicated camp sites with common or at least the basic amenities which one might need to camp at these permanent camp sites .
The basic amenities that are needed for camping at these dedicated camp sites are
Fireplaces or fire pits which can be used to build camp fires . The place should be at least a hole to build the fire or a circle of rocks or a metal enclosure, a metal grate or a concrete spot.
The camp site should have access for the vehicles, like a gravel or a concrete pad for parking of the vehicles.
Picnic Tables
Utility services like gas, electricity and sewer with raised platforms to pitch the tent and piped potable water.

Other Amenities which can be arranged to improve tourism into using these camp sites are
a small convenient store with at least basic things
Pit toilets
Flush toilets and showers, with or without hot water
Sinks and mirrors in the bathrooms
wood supplies for free or for a charge for cookingas well as camp fire
garbage cans to place the refuse

If there are dedicated camp sites like these are available outside camping can be forbidden by law to stop doing harm to the environment. In India many of the states are trying to improve their tourism by getting dedicated camp sites ready for the locals and the tourists to come and stay, enjoy nature for a minimal charge.
