Thambikkottai Movie Review

Thambikottai1

Cast: Narain, Meena, Poonam Bajwa, Prabhu, Vadivelu
Director: Ammu Ramesh
Music: D. Imman

Thambikkottai is the new movie of Narain whose latest movie Anjathey before three years ago was a huge success. Through Thambikkottai Narain marks his return to the action genre from the cop roles he did in the past. But the film is a failure to the actor who was looking for a better script for his comeback. Although Narain acted well in the movie, the film fails to impress the viewers.

Story of Thambikkottai

It tells the the story of brother and sister - Alagiri (Narain) and Shanmughapriya (Meena). Shanmughapriya is a lecturer in a college in which the brother also studies. Alagiri along with his professor(MS Basker) and friends (Santhanam and gang) goes on an NSS camp to Thambikottai village. There, he meets Kanaga (Poonam Bajwa), daughter of a rich-man Amirthalingam (Rajendran). Amirthalingam wants to kill some government officers who want to repair a damaged bridge that connects the village with the rest of the world. Latter the story reveals that Alagiri has a connection to the village through his father Shanmughma(Prabhu).

What is wrong with Thambikkottai

Thambikottai_side
The main drawback of the film is the script which has many loopholes. The script doesn't offer any interesting twits and turns which are essential to a good film. The film hardly has brilliant scenes to point out. Narain is OK in an attempt to portray himself as an action hero. But it is hard to believe him as a college student. Thambikkottai proves that the actor must select good scripts in future while doing films. Poonam looks charm and convincing as the village girl. Aarthi and Santhanam also comes with good performances. Other actors Meena, Prabhu and Rajendran did their best in the roles given to them. Sangeetha is a surprising package in the film who has excelled in the role of lady don. It could have been better to use her character in some extend in the film.

Other technical departments of the film are strictly average. The music is average which suits the mood of the film. All in all, Thambikottai may suits to viewers who are not ready to miss any films. For others, it is better to wait for appear it in Televisions or DVD.

Verdict:Below Average
Rating:2/5
