Dr M P Parameswaran

I had the opportunity to have a little interaction with Dr M P Parameswaran. He was a top executive of the Baba Atomic Energy Commission. At the time of my knowing him he was the 5th or 6th from top. The first was Homi Baba then Vikram Sarabhai, Sethna, Iyengar. I do not remember whether there was one person between Iyengar and the Dr. He was having a bungalow with servants quarters, in Matunga (in the heart of Mumbai City) with a car and driver. If he had continued with the Commission, he would have become chairman after Iyengar.
My contact with him was in connection with the study circle of CPM sympathizers. I was a sympathizer at that time. Various leaders used to come to take classes for our group of about 10 persons. E M S Namboodiripad,B T Randive, P Rama Murthy, Jyothi Bosu, A K Gopalan and many others had taken classes of one or two lectures each. Dr Parameswaran had taken around 10 classes on matters in relation with atom and what is its connection with the materialistic world.
Immediately after his classes are over, I did not have any contact with him. But I learnt that he resigned the job in the Commission (BARC) and took over as the editor of Deshabhimani for a salary of Rs 800/- without any perks. That was the standard of the CPI Marksists at that time. He left the lucrative job just to serve the party. About 3-4 years back I read some news item about the punishment and dismissal of him from the party. What a standard the party has come to. Who are the persons punishing him? The so called representatives of the downtrodden who cannot live without AC home, car etc.
