Rides in Kerala houseboats delivers you an enchanting view of beauty of God's own country. Kerala house boats, mainly seen in southern parts of Kerala are also known as Kettuvallom. Kettuvallom literally means the boat formed by tied woods. Today, Kerala houseboats plays a key role in promoting Kerala tourism. In ancient times, these boats were used to carry goods or it can be called as a cargo ship. Transportation through water was the only method available for shifting goods. Now Kerala houseboats stands in a paramount position in enhancing Kerala tourism. Aleppy and Kumarakom are some of the places where you can see houseboats. Now let's look into vivid types of Kettuvallom. According to the comfortable facilities available, these Kettuvallom are mainly divided into gold star, silver star and palm green. A typical Kettuvallom or houseboats ranges about 97 feet in length and 13 feet width in dimensions. Most of the houseboats are equipped with full fledged luxurious facilities assisted by crew from tourism department. Tourists can really enjoy their holiday trip by a ride in these houseboats. Traditional lanterns and traditionally made Kerala fresh water fish recipes are some of the exclusive facilities offered by Kerala tourism department.
