This article is related to mudiyattom & elelakkaradi which are the tribal dances of kerala.

The tribal dances of Kerala

The Kerala state in India is famous for its tribal dances. Tribal dances are often accompanied by songs & instruments. The usually used instrument is the drum. But in some cases special musical instruments are also used. In some tribal dances the steps are vey simple. Another important point is that these tribal dances are more common in places like wayanad situated in Kerala state, India. Actually wayanad is a district located in the north east of Kerala. Mudiyattom & Elelakkaradi are considered as some examples of tribal dances of Kerala. Do you know anything about mudiyattom & elelakkaradi? If not, check the below points.

Mudiyattom

The Kerala state in India is famous for its different art forms. It is interesting to note that mudiyattom is a type of folk dance performed by women. Do you know the meaning of mudiyattom? The term mudiyattom means hair dance. Also note that this is a type of tribal dance where the participants unlock their hair & engage in dancing. Another important point is that mudiyattom is also known as neelilayattom. Long hair is important for the participants of mudiyattom. But remember that only experienced persons can perform this art. In the beginning actually simple movements are seen in mudiyattom. This tribal dance is accompanied by folk songs.

Elelakkaradi

Elelakkaradi is a tribal dance which is common in districts like palakkad situated in Kerala state, India. Actually this is a group dance which is performed by irulars. In general we can say that this is a whole community dance which is performed by women, men & children. Every dance is associated with several themes. The theme in elelakkaradi is related to the fight of people against bears. This is because the bears attack the human habitations. I hope all people know the fact that instruments are often associated with dances. So it is important to note that the instrument used in elelakkaradi is drum. In elelakkaradi , a mood of heroism is created by the participants.
