Easter day is celebrated as the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is usually celebrated after a 50 day fasting & prayers. In 2011, Easter is observed on 24 April. This article is related to the importance of Easter as well as the gift items which are given during this celebrations.

In 2011, Easter day is celebrated on 24 April. It should be noted that Easter day is also known as Easter Sunday or resurrection day. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ & hence it is known as resurrection day. Remember that Easter is observed by Christians & this is an event usually at the end of a 50 day period of fasting as well as prayer. The last week before Easter is considered to be a holy week as there is Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday etc. Maundy thursday is also known as pesaha vyazham. The worshippers go to the church on Easter Sunday for special prayers & rituals. It is interesting to note that Easter bunnies & Easter eggs are often given as gift items to children on Easter day. In some houses cakes are baked while others purchase it from the stores. Actually the time for church service is different for different Christian communities.
