Mrinalini Sarabhai is the founder of Darpana Academy of Performing Arts situated in Ahmedabad of Gujarat state in India. In general we can say that Mrinalini Sarabhai is the famous Indian who is specialized in classical dance as well as choreography. It should be noted that Mrinalini sarabhai was born to Dr. Swaminathan & Ammu swaminathan in the year 1908. Dr Swaminathan was a Palghat Iyer & Ammu Swaminathan was from a Nair family situated in the Palakkad district of Kerala state. Even though her parents are from Kerala, she spent her childhood in Switzerland. Another interesting point regarding Mrinalini Sarabhai is that Kathakali & Bharatanatyam are her interesting areas. That means she had given training to students in these areas.
Bharatanatyam dance is usually accompanied by the classical Carnatic music. Manipravalam is the song language used in kathakali. She was married to Vikram Sarabhai, the famous Indian physicist or more commonly known as the father of Indian space program. Remember that the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) located in Trivandrum, Kerala state is named in the memory of Vikram sarabhai who passed away on 31 December 1971 at the age of 52.
