BIOGRAPHY

P.V.Jagadish Kumar, more commonly known as Jagadish, was born on 12 June 1958 at the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Inspite of attaining a first rank in his post graduate course in Master of Commerce from Kerala University, and a well paid job as a college lecturer, his passion to films and dream of becoming a film actor made him take a long break from his job to try his luck in films. On a personal note, I wonder if his classes were also filled with laughter and fun.

His presence, on screen was felt for the first time with his minor role in My Dear Kuttichathan in 1984, which also happened to be India's first 3-D film. Later on, he was acknowledged in several movies, the most important ones being, Mutharamkunnu P.O in 1985, Nandi Veendum Varika in 1986, Manivathoorile Aayiram Shivarathrikal in 1987 and Vandanam in 1989. He attained a wider fan collection, with his role as Appukuttan in Harihar Nagar and as Mayeen kitty in Godfather. With all of these films to his credit, he became one of the leading actors in the comic role by the mid 1990's. He acted alongside Mukesh and Siddique, and has also been seen on screen with leading actors like Mammootty, Mohanlal and Jayaram. Most of the comedy shows shown on television are packed with scenes of Jagadish in his numerous films.

However, his failure in portraying himself as an actor, brought in more of comic roles. It was as if he was a magnet and all the comic roles got attracted to him. But not to mention , he showed justice to all of his roles. His most crucial and important break in his acting career was the role of Appukuttan, in Harihar Nagar 2, a sequel of Harihar Nagar.

OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS

Another major talent of this comedian, is his writing skills. He has written stories and screenplayed several movies, such as Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu in 1986, Nandi Veendum Varika in 1986, Akkare Ninnoru Maran in 1985, for which he wrote the story. He has also written the dialogues for two movies, namely, Manivatharile Aayiram Sivarathrikal in 1986 and News in 1989. He is also planning to direct a movie, with Mammotty in the leading role. Phew, one set that is going to turn out.

OFF SCREEN

Jagadish is in sync with both, on screen as well as off screen, making people laugh with his personal sense of humor. This is very much seen in his comedy show shown on Asianet, in which he is the anchor.

FAMILY

The comedian is married to a forensic professor, Dr P. Rama, who works at the Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. The couple has two daughters, namely, Ramya and Soumya.

AWARDS

Jagadish has won an Asianet Film Awards, for the best actor in Comedian role in 2009 for his performance in Harihar Nagar 2.

Not to mention, his luck tuned out to be really good for him.
