2011 Muthukulam Puraskaram for Lenin Rajendran

The famous Muthukulam Puraskaram of 2011 will be awarded to the popular director Lenin Rajendran. The award was inititated by the Muthukulam Raghavan Pillai Samskarika Samithy & was announced by Dr Biju & B Murali. It should be noted that the Muthukualm Puraskaram will be given to Lenin Rajendran in a function that is going to be held on 14 August 2011 at Muthukulam. The award consists of a citation & Rs 10,000. This award is given to Lenin Rajendran for his great contributions to the Malayalam film industry.

Muthukulam is a place located in Alleppey district of Kerala state, India. As the name indicates, Muthukulam Raghavan Pillai was born in this place in the year 1900. Muthukulam Raghavan Pillai was very popular in Malayalam language as a poet, actor, screenplay writer & dramatist. This great person was the author of Tatataka Parinayam Kathakali. This talented person was popularly known as the Akshara Guru of Malayalam talkie movies. As a screenplay writer, some of the famous Malayalam films of Muthukulam Raghavan pillai were Balan & Jeevithanauka. Among these, Balan is considered as the first Malayalam talkie & Jeevithanauka is the first box office hit (Malayalam language) in Indian film industry. In the year 2010, the Muthukulam Puraskaram was awarded to the veteran actress Aranmula Ponnamma.
