Fourth International Documentary & Short Film Festival of Kerala


The Fourth International Documentary & Short Film Festival of Kerala will be held from 31 July 2011 to 4 August 2011 at Trivandrum in Kerala state of India. This festival is organized by the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy. There will be different sections like short fiction, animation, documentary, music video as well as campus films for this film festival. The important feature of this film festival is that about 100 film makers will take part in it. It should be noted that this is the only documentary film festival of India. The important feature of this film festival is a seminar on 'Science in Indian television', two films by Suhasini Mulay & two new short films by veteran director Werner Herzog. Several women directors from different parts of the world will participate in this festival. This festival will pay tributes to Chintha Ravi & Mani Kaul.

The festival will be inaugurated at the Kairali Theatre by the Minister for Sports & Cinema (KB Ganesh Kumar). VS Sivakumar, the transport & temple affairs minister will preside over the function. The introductory remarks will be made by Priyadarshan (Chairman of Kerala Chalachithra Academy). After that there will be screening of the inaugural film 'The Old Partner' directed by Lee Chung-Ryoul, who is a famous Korean film maker. Jaichandiram,The first Asian President of International Association Women in Radio & Television (IAWRT) will introduce the women directors from foreign countries. Arun Khopkar, Ayesha Kagal & Sofia Sivaraman will be the jury members for the long & short documentary section. But Shyamaprasad will be the jury for music video, animation, short fiction & campus films.
