Milma milk price increases from 5th September 2011


The price of Milma milk is going to increase from 5th September 2011. For one litre the price rises to Rs 5. According to the approach of Milma to the Kerala High Court, this decision was taken by the court. So we must face the burden of increasing milk price again.

The price of Milma milk going to rise. This decision was taken by Kerala High Court as on the case registered by Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma). The High Court, Thursday ruled that Milma can hike the price of milk for Rs 5 in the state.

The court also said that the government does not have the right to interfere in the fixing of milk price. The court issued the order quoting the laws and norms regarding co-operative societies.

The previous Government opposed the move by Milma to hike the price. As to overcome the opposition from the Government MIlma Had approached the High Court.

The price of Milma milk from 5th September 2011


500gm (yellow cover) - Rs 13.50
500gm (blue cover) - Rs 14.00
500gm (red cover) - Rs 15.00

Currently the price is Rs 11, 11.50, 12.50 respectively.

The hike of five rupees to be divide as 4.20 to milk farmers, .20 rupees each for agencies, co-operative societies and packing transportation charges.
Currently Milma distributing 11.8 lakh litre milk. In this only 7.3 lakh is producing in Kerala. Rest milk was borrowed from other states. So MIlma says that it is necessary to increase the price for loosing their burden.
