The 1990s saw the rise of many firebrand characters in Malayalam Cinema. The Super stars too were made in this period. Two of those firebrand heroes are joining together now, in the upcoming movie 'The King and The Commissioner'. The Super heroes Mammootty and Suresh Gopi, indicating a break to the coldwar between them, will portray their iconic characters Joseph Alex IAS and Bharat Chandran IPS respectively in the film. The new flick will see the teaming up of Shaji Kailas and Ranji Panicker, once the best commercial director- scriptwriter pair and creators of these firebrands, after 1995. Their films were famous for its punch dialogues and action sequences.The Commissioner already had a sequel in 2005 named 'Bharat Chandran IPS' from Ranji Panicker, which gave Suresh Gopi a break after a series of box office failures. Years later, Joseph Alex is working as the head of National Investigation Agency and Bharat Chandran is the Police Commissioner of Delhi metro. They somehow have to collaborate on a case regarding the national security threat. Initially they are at loggerheads due to egoism and difference in views though, they finally team up together to solve the case. Their initial rivalry are deliberately designed to experiment hot shot dialogues, what are omnipresent in all of the Shaji-Ranji films. Other special fact is that Bharat Chandran makes his entry just before the intermission only, what will be hard to swallow for the Suresh Gopi fans. Apart from the leads, the film will feature a strong line up of actors including Sai Kumar, Samvrutha Sunil, Sanjana, Devan, Janardhanan, Vijayaraghavan, Nedumudi Venu, KPAC Lalitha, Kunjan with others.
The film is concentrated on Delhi with a few scenes on other metros. Produced by Anto Joseph, The King and the Commissioner will be distributed by Mammootty's Playhouse Release.
