JNVST 2012: Navodaya Vidyalaya Application Procedure, Exam Pattern and Navodaya Vidyalayas in Kerala is given here. Navodaya Vidyalayas are completely residential schools financed by the Government of India and undertaken by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are started all over India (except in Tamil Nadu) in accordance with the National Policy of Education (1986). The Scheme envisages establishment of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, one in each district of the country. All these Vidyalayas are completely residential schools financed by the Government of India and undertaken by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Free education is given to all the students getting admissions in these schools which includes their lodging, food, uniforms, textbooks and stationary.
Admission to Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya is done to class VI through a National Level competitive Examination (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test, JNVST) conducted by the NVS under the control of Central Board of Education. The test consists of mental ability test, mathematics and language skills.The question papers are prepared taking consideration for the students of rural areas. A total of 80 students are selected to each Navodaya Vidyalayas. Out of the total 80 seats, 75% of seats are reserved for the students from rural area and a minimum of 33% of seats are reserved for girls. 15% seats and 7% seats are reserved for SCs/STs students respectively.
Application Procedure The application forms are available at free of cost at Block Education officer, District Education Officer, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Centre of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Headmaster of any Govt. / Govt. aided / Recognized Accredited Institute. Eligibility The application filled as per the instruction given in the application form must reach the Block Education Officer on or before 31st October 2011. 1)The candidate should be in V class at the time of exam and the school should be recognized by the government or by a equivalent body. 2)Age should be between 9 and 13 (born before 01-05-1999 and after 30-04-2003) 3)Candidate should have completed his class III, IV and V in a Government recognized school in a rural area, if he wish to apply for a rural quota. 4)Candidate can give the exam only once
Exam Pattern The test consists of mental ability test, mathematics and language skills.The question papers are prepared taking consideration for the students of rural areas. The selection test will be of two-hour duration and will have 3 sections with only objective type questions. There are 100 questions in all of 100 marks. The break up of marks are as follows: 50 marks for Mental Ability Teat, 25 marks for Arithmetic Test and 25 marks for Language Test. The section one is Mental Ability Test. This is non – verbal test. Questions are based on figures and diagrams only. Questions are meant to assess general mental functioning of the candidates. The section is divided into ten paras having 5 questions each. Section 2 is Arithmetic Test (25 question, 25 marks). The main purpose of this tet is to measure candidates basic competencies on calculations. Section 3 is Language Test. The main purpose of this test is to assess reading comprehension of the candidates. The test consists of three passages, each passage followed by 5 questions. additional 10 questions are provided to test grammer and writting skills of the candidate.
Result The result will be published around the end of May. The result will be displayed in the offices of the concerned (i) Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (ii) District Education Officer (iii) District Magistrate (iv) Deputy Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti of the Region. The Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya concerned, will also inform the selected candidates through registered post.
