The Vayalar Rama Varma Awards of 2011 have been announced. The veteran actor Thilakan will be awarded the Vayalar Chalachithra Ratnam award. The Ragaratnam award will be given to music director MG Radhakrishnan posthumously. Pooovachal Khader will recieve the Ganaratna award. Prithviraj has been selected as the Best Actor of the year for his performances in Urumi and Indian Rupee. Ramya Nambeeshan is the Best Actress. Her performances in Traffic and Chappakurishu brought her the award. Ranjith's Indian Rupee has been chosen as the Best Picture in feature film category. Traffic by Rajesh Pillai won the award for second best film. The awards were determined by the jury headed by Dr. M R Thamban (Director of Bhasha Institute) and comprising Sohanlal (Director), Ravi Menon, Girija Sethunath, Sulochana Ram Mohan (Film Critic) and Jayan Nair (Serial Director).
Baburaj is selected as the second Best Actor for his hailed performance in Salt N Pepper. Ananya bagged the second Best Actress for Senoirs. The other awards are
