The 12th edition of the Hindu Young World Quiz 2011, which started on 10th October 2011 at Madurai in Tamil nadu is concluding with a grand finale that will be held at Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala state in India on 14 November 2011. The quiz sponsored by the Velammal Education Trust will be held in 16 centres including Madurai, Salem, Coimbatore, Tiruchi, Tirupathi, Chennai, Puducherry, Vijayawada, Vishakapatanam, Mangalore, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Hubli, Kochi, Kozhikode & Thiruvananthapuram respectively. This year the contest is open for students from class 7 to class 9 & any 2 students from the same school can form a team. But the school can send a maximum of 4 teams, using the entry cards. At each centre there will be a preliminary round of written test so as to select 6 teams for the regional finals. It should be noted that those winners will be eligible to participate in the national final. The travel & stay for the outstation teams, along with one adult escort per team, that is qualifying for the final will be arranged by the Hindu. For the regional finals in various centres, the winners will be given a cash prize of Rs 15000, second prize is Rs 12000, third prize Rs 10000 & 4th, 5th as well as 6th places will be given Rs 2000 each. But for the grand finale, the 1st prize will be a cash award of Rs 50000, 2nd prize is Rs 40000, 3rd prize is Rs 30000 & 4th, 5th as well as 6th places will be given a cash prize of Rs 10000 each respectively. Apart from this, the participants & the audience can also win several other awards. Both members from the winning team of the national final will be given two TATA Nano Cars offered by TATA Motors.
