The Nokia Asha 303 is the flagship brand of Nokia. It is to be launched in Kerala soon. It is a 'Touch & Type' phone powered by Nokia Series 40 operating system. The phone was announced at Nokia World 2011 in London along with three others phones in the Asha series namely Asha 200, 201 and 300 on 26th October. The Nokia Asha 303 is the most prominent brand among them.
Features and Specifications of Nokia Asha 303The Asha 303 phone measures 55.7 *116.5 *13.9 mm. It weighs about 97 grams. It has a 2.6 inch transmissive LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320 × 240 pixel. The screen is taller than wider as portrait model. The phone can display upto 262000 colours. It has 4 row keyboard with availability of regional variants like QWERTY or AZERTY. The phone features a 3.2 MP back camera with an extended depth of field feature. The camera has got no mechanical zoom or flash. It has a 4× digital zoom for both video and camera. The camera has a 50 cm to infinity focus range. It is capable of video recording at up to 640 x 480 px.
The Nokia Asha 303 has the 1 GHz ARM11 processor found in other Symbian3 phones such as the Nokia 500. But the phone lacks the Broadcom GPU as it is not supported by the Nokia Series 40 operating system.The phone has low power single channel RAM of 128 MB. It has got 100 MB of internal memory. It also has a hot swappable micro SDHC card socket, by which the memory can be expanded upto 32 GB.
The Nokia Asha 303 has a microphone and a loud speaker with it. On the top, there is a 3.5 mm AV connector which provides both stereo audio output and microphone input. There is also a High-speed USB 2.0 Micro AB connector on it. It facilitates the USB On-The-Go 1.3 using a Nokia Adapter Cablefor USB OTG CA-157, thereby enabling it to act as a USB host. The phone has built-in Bluetooth v2.1 with EDR supports stereo audio output. The phone has also OPP profile for sending and receiving objects along with FTP. The AVRCP profile allows the user to control the phone using a remote controller. The phone also supports wireless earpieces and headphones through the HSP profile. The phone has DUN profile by which the internet can be accessed by a laptop by dialing up on a mobile phone wirelessly. The PAN profile allows networking by Bluetooth. The phone also features a radio using headphones connected to the 3.5 jack as antenna. The battery is of 1300 mAh. It can have talk time of 7-8 hours continuously. The battery has 30-35 days of standby life. Also music can be played for 47 hours continuously. The music player will support MP3, MP4 (audio), AAC, AAC LC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, NRT, MXMF, WAV, NB AMR, WB AMR and MIDI formats.
The Asha 303 has Nokia proxy Browser seen in Series 40 phones. It includes Nokia Messaging Service 3.2 that supports instant messaging and e-mail with SMS and MMS. The applications for Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Orkut also added in it. The Nokia Music Store will be available in the phone. The Flash Lite 3.0 Video player will ease the Youtube video access. The common utilities like Calendar, VoIP, Notes, Calculator, To-do list, Alarm clock, Voice recorder and Stopwatch are there in the phone. The phone has also the primary level of Angry Birds game. The additional levels are available on the Nokia Store. The phone has a version of Nokia Maps, but does not support GPS.
Cost and News of Nokia Asha 303 in KeralaThe Nokia Asha 303 will be launched in Kerala in late December. The phone will be available in red, green, purple, aqua, silver white and graphite colours. It is expected to cost around Rs. 7500.
