The hunter tried to attack the snake with his axe, but it slipped into the forest. The hunter was so brave that he went into the forest in search of the snake and at last reached near a lake. There the hunter saw a chithalputtu that looked like a decorated golden chain & he was able to see the snake inside it. When the hunter tried to hit the snake with his axe, it disappeared. Narada in the form of a stranger appeared before the hunter & asked him to break that shell. The hunter obeyed the words of Narada and at last he found an image inside it. It was the image of Goddess Vanadurga. After this incidence, that place gained popularity among the people. The Chakkulathukavu Sree Bhagavathy Temple has some important features.
