2011 was an year that brought Malayalam cinema many accolades and new hopes. Many actors got a new energy and career changing roles last year. Jayasurya, Asif Ali, Indrajith and Lal were among them. When Jayasurya firmed his steps with performance in films like Beautiful and Janapriyan, Asif Ali was really a revelation. He raised to the level of new trend star with Traffic, Violin and Salt N Pepper. Indrajith made his presence with critically lauded Karmayogi, Veettilekkulla Vazhi, City of God and others. Lal moved closer to the audience with Salt N Pepper. Now, these four frontline actors are uniting for another film.

The movie is directed by families' dear filmmaker Saji Surendran and named 'Husbands in Goa'. The title may arouse the doubt that whether it is the sequel of Saji's blockbuster movie 'Happy Husbands', but certainly not. Happy Husbands also starred Jayasurya and Indrajith. Husbands in Goa is the fifth film of Saji Surendran and his fifth to feature Jayasurya as well. Saji-Jayasurya team's latest flick named Kunjaliyan is already getting ready to hit the theatres this week.

'Husbands in Goa' will be a family comedy, as previous films by the director. Earlier Biju Menon was supposed to do the role Lal would play but due to the clash of dates, he had to be replaced.

Another speciality of the project is that the biggies of Indian films production, UTV Motion Pictures is making its first step in Malayalam cinema through the movie. UTV is famous for its Bollywood productions. The movie is scripted by Krishna Poojapura who penned a few of Saji Surendran's earlier films including Happy Husbands.

As the title indicates, the story of Husbands in Goa revolves around three husbands characterised by Jayasurya, Indrajith and Asif Ali. The trio is on a tour to Goa to taking a break from their funless marriage lives. During the trip, they befriend with a stranger, who is also leading a troubled marriage life and heading to a divorce. The man is played by Lal. The film take a turn when the wives of these group join them in Goa and it forms the rest of the story. Bhama, Bhavana and Samvritha Sunil appear as the heroines of the film.
Saji and crew are planning to make the movie a full fledged comedy entertainer. The movie is expected to start in February first week.
