The 52nd Kerala School Kalolsavam, being Asia's largest arts and cultural festival begins in Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala on 16th Janaury 2012. Thrissur, the land of Poorams will be in focus for millions which offers a week long endless nights of arts festival. K.J Yesudas, the man with golden tongue inaugurated the festival on 16th January at a grand function held at Thrissur Corporation Stadium which is the main venue of the programs. Before the inauguration function, a grand procession really eye catching display by the students from various parts of the state was the main attraction of the day. Mr P.K. Abdu Rabb, education minister of kerala who presided over the meeting said that, plans are there to bring back the Kalaprathiba and Kalathilakam awards.

The Kalolsavam which opened on 16th January would come to an end on 22nd January 2012. A day before the inauguration, yesteryears Kalaprathibhas and Kalathilakams gathered together while they shared the memories on stage before the audience. So in the coming days, the real battle on state between young talents would add more colours to the arts festival. It's surer that there will be a touch competition on stage while all eyes would be on the 117.5 sovereign gold trophy which can bring pride to their district. There will be a total of 218 trophies which are waiting for the winners. We can expect a healthy competition between the contestants. Last year while the organizers started the live webcast, it was viewed by lakhs of people from around 70 countries. This year too there will be live updates on the results which would be available on the www.schoolkalolsavam.in.
