Kerala is going to have the first Start-up village in India

Kerala is going to mark a new spot in the IT map of the nation. India's first 'Start-up Village' is going to be set up in Kerala. The Public Private Partnership (PPP) telecom business incubator, commonly known as Start up Village, is planned to be built at the KINFRA Park in Kalamassery.

The Village is supposed to concentrate on the student initiatives from college campuses mainly. It will be modelled on the Technology Incubators of the Silicon Valley, area famous for the headquarters of globally leading IT companies.
The project will be combinely developed by the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), the government of India, Technopark of Thiruvananthapuram and MobME Wireless. The Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) will develop the basic infrastructure and other facilities for the project. Around 15,000 sq ft of area will be needed for the project. MobME Wireless, the copartner in the project, is one of the fastest growing Mobile Value Added Service Companies in India. It was also founded as a campus start-up in 2006.

The village is expected to trigger around 1,000 product start-ups over a span of 10 years. It will be made a billion dollar project. The campus would have complete 4G network and highly advanced telecom labs. Kris Gopalakrishnan, the cofounder an Chairman of Infosys Technologies, will be the chief mentor of the project.

The village is planned to be inaugurated in February this year and the admission of the first batch would be completed by April. The project will open the new doors for Kerala into the world of IT and will attract more global companies and investments.
