International Theatre Festival of Kerala 2012 (ITFoK) begins on Wednesday

The International Theatre Festival of Kerala (ITFOK) of 2012 will commence on 1st February in Thrissur. The 4th edition of the festival will be held at KT Muhammed Theatre and other venues. The fest will last to 8th February. Read more details in the article.

Now it is the time for the people to visit the world of dramas, to experience the echo in theatres. The International Theatre Festival of Kerala (ITFOK) of 2012 will commence on 1st February in Thrissur. The 4th edition of the festival will be held at KT Muhammed Theatre and other venues. The fest will last to 8th February. The dramas from Poland and Lithuania are the speciality of this year's festival. Maalavikagnimithram by Kavalam Narayana Panikkar is the inaugural drama. The festival will begin with the Rajasthan folk art Manganiyar Orchestra on Wednesday. 16 plays will be presented in the festival.

Carmen Hunambres by Pedrose Theatre in Poland is a play with a Bosnian background. Lithuanian drama Krutzen Sonata is based on a Tolstoy story. Golden Dragon by German dramatist Rolan Schamenfegh, 20000 Leagues Under Sea based on work by Jules Verne and Israeli play Odessyeus Coyotics are the other noted selections.

Film personalities Revathi and Anupam Kher also will be there to grace the fest with their productions. Anupam Kher will present Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai and Revathi will present Afterlife of Birds. Theatre personalities Usha Ganguly, Deepan Sivaraman and Arundhati Nag will be there with their productions as well. The students from School of Drama, Thrissur will present the Harold Pinter play Birthday Party.

Apart from plays, Music cross over, Folk arts, Kathakali, Theyyam, Krishnanattam, Open Forum and Seminar also will be conducted as part of the fest. The festival will be inaugurated by Kavalam, Parassala Ponnammal, Thrippekkulam Achutamarar and Kalamandalam Raman Kutty Nair by lighting the lamp. The entry to the fest is restricted with the pass.
