Malayalam actor Jose Prakash passed away on 24th March 2012. Read the news about the demise of evergreen Malayalam villain actor Jose Prakash. Jose Prakash, the evergreen villain and character actor of Malayalam cinema passed away on 24 March, Saturday afternoon at a private hospital in Kochi. He was 86. Jose Prakash has been ailing with health issues for many years. He had lost one of his legs following diabetes. It has been only a day since the Kerala state government selected him for the prestigious J C Daniel Award recognising his overall contribution to the Malayalam and theatre. JC Daniel Award is the most prestigious award given by the state government in the film industry. It is still unclear that whether Jose Prakash was aware of his award on death. Many personalities from the different levels of society expressed their condolences on his death. His funeral is arranged to take place on Monday.

Jose Prakash was initially a soldier in the British Indian Army. He then took Voluntary retirement and returned home. As an art lover, he formed the Kottayam Arts Club. It was mainly a music troupe.

It was Thikkurussy Sukumaran Nair who brought Jose Prakash to film industry. He entered the film industry as a playback singer in 1953. His debut film was 'Sheriyo Thetto' directed by Thikkurussy.

The turning point of his career was in 1961 with the role in the film 'Bhakta Kuchela'. He then went on to be popular character actor. Another break for him happened in 1969 with his antagonist role in 'Olavum Theeravum'. The performance in the film made him a model for a typical villian. His villain role, characterised as wearing a jacket and smoking a pipe brought a western touch to Malayalam industry. The role triggered a new trend and Jose Prakash went on to do the same type of characters in many films in the seventies.

Jose Prakash has acted in about 450 films in Malayalam and Tamil. His last film was 'Traffic' released last year. An era has ended with his demise.
