Oru Yathrayil malayalam movie - New anthology film from Major Ravi

Malayalam movie industry is now going through experiments in the films. Directors started to use multi-star movies to attract maximum audience to cinemas and enhance value of their films. Around 90 malayalam movies released in 2010, films with a multi-star ensemble did well compared other films. Out of 30 movies released in the first half of 2011 most successful were multi-star movies which revolved around more than one superstar.

Joshi's Christian Brothers and Twenty 20, Santhosh Sivan's historical thriller Urumi, N.R Sanjeev's family hit Janakan became super hit films in the previous years. Christian Brothers had a huge star cast ranging from superstars like Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Dileep and Sarath Kumar.

Urumi, touted as the first 'global film' from Kerala, with a host of top actors from different languages together. The blockbuster Twenty 20(2008) a movie in which almost all Malayalam artists ranging from super stars to villains appeared, was the path-breaking film which brought back the multi-starrer trend back to malayalam.

Ranjith first experimented the trend with the film Kerala Cafe which came with 10 different stories and multi - stars. After Kerala Cafe two more anthologies, 'D company' and 'Oru Yathrayil' are on the making which will be released soon.

D company is a highly action packed movie which contains five short action stories directed by Joshy, Shaji kailas, Padmakumar, Vinod Vijayan and Deepan. Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Fahad Fasil, Jayasurya and Anoop menon are casted in the lead in the film which will be released in the last of 2012.

Ore Yathrayil is a new anthology under the supervision of Major Ravi based on a new theme.

About the film Oru Yathrayil

Major Ravi is coming back with a bang with his new anthology film, named as ' Oru Yathrayil'. It features five different films which will be joined at last. Major Ravi himself directs a movie 'Amma' with Sukumari in the lead role. Next Priyanandhan is directing the film titled as 'Marichavarude Kadal' with Vineeth Kumar and Remya Nambeesan in the main roles. Another film in this series is 'Honeymoon', which is directed by Rajeesh Amanakara. Mathews is coming with a film titled as ' I Love My Appa' and the last one in this film series is 'Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan' from the director Vinod Vijayan.

Cinematography of the films has been done by Velraj, Sajeev Sankar, Jomon T John and Pradeep Prathapan. Editing is done by Venu Gopal, Hariharaputra, Don Max, Vivek Harshan and Kapil Gopalakrishnan. This film is produced by Siby Thottapuram and Joby Mundamattom and this film is produced under the banner of SJM Entertainments private limited.

The producers say that each film will have a different theme, but it is well planned in such a way that all stories will come together at the end of the film. As per available informations Thilakan, Sukumari, Vineeth Kumar, Remya Nambeesan will be in lead roles in different short films. Major Ravi said that this film takes place on a journey and each film will have few common characters which will ease the transition of one story to other.

This film has a group of highly talented new directors and script directors. The success of the film would depend on the individual films that make up the anthology. It has been said that each film will be of twenty eight (28) minutes. This film is almost through its shots and will be released soon.

Amma

This film is based on a true incident. Amma is a film directed by Major Ravi himself, which is an entirely different theme from his usual military themes. Amma is backed by a theme of unidentified love and sacrifice of a mother. Sukumari and Janardhanan comes in leading roles in this film. This film is written and directed by Major Ravi. Editing is done by Don Max and cinematography is done by Vel Raj.

Marichavarude Kadal

Priyanandhan's Marichavarude kadal shows the changes happened in the lives of the characters after Indian freedom struggle. Vineeth Kumar and Remya Nambeesan are the leading actors of this film. prathapan does the camera work. story is written by Priyanandhan himself and music direction by M.Jayachandran.

Honeymoon

Honeymoon is a romantic film directed by Rajesh Amanakara. Honeymoon depicts the problems which are faced by a newly wedded couples, who lives in a metro, decided to go for a honeymoon. kannan Pattambi and pooja are in the leading cast and cinematography is done by Sanjeev Sanker.

I Love My Appa

I love my appa is directed by a debutant director Mathews, which is a family oriented story. The film portrays the love and innocence of a child. This short film is an intense drama about the bond between a father and his child. Jayan, Lakshmi Gopalaswami, Master Visvas will be in the title roles. The story is written by Major Ravi and Sanjeev Sankar handles the camera.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan

Vinod Vijayan's Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan revolves around a child who gets a glimpse of stark realities of life when she picks up a newspaper to make a kite. Cinematography is done by Jomon T John and music is composed by Rahul Raj. Anil Murali, Surabhi, Baby Esther are giving life to the characters of this film.
