Malayala manorama has started an amazing contest for young vibrant minds of Kerala to ignite the flame of innovation in science and technology of their minds. The main objective is to sustain that flame through technical and financial support in a spirit of healthy competition. Malayala manorama Yuva has been providing a platform for the creative minds of our states to join together in the intention of promoting sustainable social development.

Malayala manorama Yuva team has joined with Amal Jyothi engineering college of Kanjirappally for technical support in the innovative competition of projects. The contest is organized particularly with IEDC (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre) of Amal Jyothi. This college is the only one in our state who has been granted by central science and technology department.

Yuva master mind 2013 is a contest based on innovative projects by including participants from School and college levels. The project should have a working model and study project without working model will not be entertained. The project should be completed within three months. Last date for application is
August 14.

Who can participate in Yuva master mind 2013

The project is for School levels and college levels students. In school level students belongs to 9 to Plus two in Kerala irrespective of curriculum or medium can take part in this innovative project contest. In college level Students of Engineering Colleges/Polytechnics/Science and Arts Colleges /ITI/ITC/Professional institutions or any other institutes from Govt/Aided/Self financing sectors can participate in this contest. There is no special registration fees can be taken from the participants. Up to 3 students can include in a project team irrespective of their classes. There should be a guide or mentor from your parent institute to guide you in the project. The project should be related with science and technology and should have working model. The project should be a new one and financial support can be given for the completion of the project from the organizers. There is no age limit for the contest even though participants should register in academic institutions. Any number of team can be participated from the same institution, but only one project is accepted from one team.

Support from Organization for Yuva master mind 2013

Analyzing the abstract of the project and the technical communication with team 25 teams from both levels have selected by the expert committee. The panel is considering the feasibility, novelty and social relevance a financial assistance for the project before giving financial support. These teams are selected for financial support according to the cost of project completion. Only new projects are eligible for financial support. In college level a team can get financial support of maximum up to 10000 while in school level it's up to 7500. 50 percentage of expense are provided upon their need for selected projects. Another 25 percentage will be provided after midterm verification of the project by technical committee, and final 25 percentages will be released at the time of final exhibition. Teams can take guidance from anybody, however the idea and implementation is purely responsibility of the team.

Prizes for Yuva master mind 2013

Yuva master mind 2013 is launched with a mesmerizing prize worth upto Rs 7.5 lakhs. For college level students prize money as follows: Rs 1 lakh (1st prize), Rs 60,000 (2nd prize), Rs 40,000 (3rd prize). For school level students prize money as follows: Rs 50,000 (1st prize), Rs 30,000 (2nd prize), Rs 20,000 (3rd prize). Primarily 25 teams have listed out from whole application and their project shall be demonstrated in an exhibition held on January 2013. The expert panel will select the best team from these 25 based on the science and technical importance. There is an additional offering for Inventions that helps to saving energy. This special award is instituted in the name of Prof Satheesh John by Amaljyothi Engineering College. The Prize winning projects with safety as theme will be special prize of Rs 60,000 (college level) and Rs 40,000 (school level).
