Kerala Chief Minister Vs Kerala Police - Enquiry of Ice Cream Parlour Case

The latest controversy taken place in Kerala state is between the Chief Minister of Kerala , Mr. V. S. Achuthanandan, and the Kerala police. This controversy is related to the enquiry of ICE CREEM PARLOUR CASE. Achuthanandan instructed the head of the enquiry team, Mr. Vincent M. Paul (ADGP), to meet the advocate of Supreme Court, Mr.Suseel Kumar, with all the details and reports of the Ice Cream Parlour Case. But the ADGP and the DGP, Mr. Jacob Punoose, have denied this instruction specifying that the enquiry team do not require any legal advice from any external source and this will be against the code of conduct insisted by Election Commission. Now the latest news came out that the Chief Minister is preparing for action against ADGP and DGP. Some officials say that this type of action will be the violation of code of conduct insisted by Election Commission.

According to the opposition, the Chief Minister is using his official powers for political and personal revenge. Personnel of police department are well trained to conduct enquiries. There is procedures also to get legal advice, when they required. The officer, who conduct an enquiry, knows very well that if he require any legal advice. Let them do their duty and complete the enquiry. If the government is not satisfied with the enquiry or the way they conducting the enquiry, the government has the power to hand over the enquiry to any other agency. Why the Chief Minister is interfering in the activities of police?

What do you think about the Chief Ministers attitude to Ice Cream Parlor Case?

The Chief Minister is playing politics by his orders to the ADGP and the DGP. The matter is under the home ministry. The home misnister is the follower of the party organisational leader. He knows well thaat his order will not be accepted by the home ministry.

He has taken a calculated decision to get the popular support by pretending to be a crusader against corruption. This is done in the background of the agitation of the Civil Rights Movement Organisations which has caught the imagination of the public throughout the caountry. By his action he is trying to secure his position if the LDF gets majority after the election results are announced. It is also a clever move to try to create cleavge between the constituents of the UDF. Because it is a corruption case and the public opinion is not very high of the Congress at the Center, the local UDF leaders may find it very difficult to vigourously take position stongly against the CM's move.

Like many of his public postures, this is also o catch the public support to him. If he were to be honest, he should have made his son to resign and an enquiry ordered in his son's rise in the office.

The CM is playing a very dirty political game. He wants to raise the ice cream parlor case to supress the aligation raised against his son and get public support. When the aligaiton raised against his son he said if sombody gives the aligation in writing he will take action. Ommen chandy gave it in writing. But he didn't take any action. This is the political game going on in Kerala
