"Kerala Police is one of the finest police forces in the country".In the official web site of Kerala Police, there is a message from the state police chief, titled as "State Police Chief's message".
The first two sentences of the message are "Kerala Police is one of the finest police forces in the country. It is a matter of great honour that I have been entrusted with the responsibility of leading this force." (http://keralapolice.org/). Now read the following story and you decide that it is true or not.

Today (10/05/2011), The Malayala Manorama Daily (Trivandrum Edition) has published a news of the efficiency of our police department. On Sunday, DCP Rajpal Meena was appointed as the night duty checking office. He started the inspection at night 11 o'clock at the areas where petrolling parties are appointed and police stations. But he couldn't find any police control room vehicles which are appointed for petrolling in the city. By 3 o'clock in the early morning he tried to get control room over phone, several times. Nobody attended the phone. When he visited the cantonment station, in which the police control room is situated, all the policemen including sentries were sleeping. It is said that over 20 phones were ringing at that time. Nobody was bothered about the calls from the public, who seek help from police at night and everybody was sleeping without attending any calls. The DCP prepared to suspend all of the staff who were on duty at that time. But due to the interference from the associations of police, he could not take any action, but only warning.

As the police department is paid from the taxes levied by us how do you rate the performance of the Kerala Police? Is this is the finest Police Force in the contry?

The police force in our state is surely not so efficient as the CM claims it to be .

But comparing many other states may be we can come in the first , but not more than that .

Corruption is rampant and lack of officers is very grave problem . The system should revive itself and more personnel should be recruited . Their salary should suit the levels of the work they do and they should not be overexerted to make them indifferent to their job .

The police froce has to go far ahead to achieve that Utopian claim of the CM .

It is often seen that the police officers ask for fee(bribe) when they come for passport verification . They often justify it by saying that they have spent a lot of fuel to come our house and verify . The punch of this Decalogue is the ego which comes from the fact that they can give a bad report about us often delaying our passport our canceling it . Moreover sometimes they create havoc by coming drunk even in the morning hours of the day .

The recent incident of four policemen driving drunk and hitting down two cycling children off to death is a notable example of their defiance . lot of measures are being taken by the cops to dilute the FIR and relieve the guilty from getting any punishment for their punitive act . They had stayed hidden from public for many days before surrendering recently .

LAW is no more impartial and law keepers are no more efficient in their duties . The legislators who have to correct them are bigger frauds than them .
