Chain Snatchers Galore at Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple

Thanks to the litigation and the publicity because of the inspection of the vaults of the Sri Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple of Trivandrum, Kerala in India, chain snatchers have started operation their tricks on the unsuspecting devotees. Due the world wide publicity the temple got, devotees from near and far are thronging the temple in thousands since the last few days.

Whenever there is crowd there will be jostling and pushing etc which is an ideal condition for the chain snatchers and pick pockets. The chain snatchers have entered the arena in the temple. They mingle smoothly among the devotees and relieve the chains without being observed. Already 3 cases are reported so far. There may be minor cases which are not reported yet. Now the chain snatchers colleagues, the pick pockets, conman etc will come into the scene and start playing havoc with the devotees. So far the reported losses were estimated to be around one Lakh rupees.

The devotees have to take care of their valuables and reduce the ornaments during the visit to the temple in particular and in crowds in general. The State Government has already provided security to the temple both in uniform and mufti. In spite of this the chain snatchers are able to operate. Therefore it is our duty to take care of our belongings to avoid loss. In such situations there is no point of blaming on security or others for the loss.

Even if there is nourishing milk in the udders of a cow,

    the mosquito wants only blood.

For thieves any place is their business place.

It for general people to be alert and vigilant.
