P C Alexander (Padinjare thalakkal house, Puthiakavu village, Mavelikkara) was one of the old time Civil Servants who upheld some principles even after retiring from all activities. In contrast to the present breed of Administrative officials who will b just waiting for retirement, from service with no extensions granted, to start denigrating their departmental heads and ministers. They may even appear in T V shows and participate in debates talking as if they were virtues personified.
The like of Alexander like K P S Menon, K P Kesavan Nair, R Narayanan etc who held highest possible positions and could have undergone difficult situation under their bosses, but without making it as a personal and shallow affair and talking against the institution they held. Those who were aggrieved should have resigned instead of waiting till retirement and then co,plain against the institutions.
Anyway, Alexander was a different one. He has served high level diplomat, P A to Prime Ministers, Governor of 2 - 3 states after his successful service in the Administrative service of India.
His body will be kept for those who want to pay last respects till tomorrow and the last rites will be done in the afternoon of Saturday at his native place.
