Question paper leak case Two get jail

The special CBI court has awarded 3 years imprisonment and Rs 30,000 fine to the accused in the SSLC question paper leak case. Bindu Vijayan (49) of near Vanchiyur Kadhi board office and Sindhu Surendran (49) of Chennai were given jail term. The court had found them guilty earlier and the quantum of punishment was announced on Friday. The charges against them were criminal conspiracy, stealing and for keeping the stolen things under position.

The CBI prosecutor pointed out that the state govt had incurred a loss of over Rs 1 crore 32 lakh due to the SSLC question paper leak. The court stated that the accused were housewives and they did not know about the gravity of the crime, which they did it for the sake of their children future. Considering all these they have been awarded lesser punishment.

The case was booked against them for leaking the SSLC question paper wherein Bindu Vijayan and Surendran along with Suresh, who had turned approver in the case, printed the SSLC question paper in 2005 and the model papers held in March at the S Vishwanath Printers and Publishers in Chennai. They had also stolen the exam papers. The CBI probe had found that in the SSLC exam held in March, they had leaked 9 subject question papers. The HC had given charge to the CBI to investigate the case.
