Kerala activists seek strict law for crimes against women

Last Saturday carried out a march hundreds of women activists from various organizations where attend the march, thy demanding stringent laws to protect women by waving black flags, following the death of a young woman in Singapore who was gang-raped in Delhi. They have been demanding for long that separate fast-track courts and the court is be to set up to deal exclusively with cases relating to women. Similar protests by women were also from other parts of the state. There need is to start a state-wide awareness campaign in schools and colleges. The campaign aims to ensure that women are treated with respect. According to the 2011 Census there are 1,084 females for every 1,000 males in the state. The Kerala is an only state in the country where the sex-ratio is favorable to women.
