Santosh Trophy 2013 final results are out with Services emerging as winners. It was dream of Kerala to win the title after a gap of 9 years, but failed to Services. It was truly a mesmerizing evening for 40,000 spectators who gathered at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and millions of football fans to watch 2 hours of entertainment on field.
It was truly a mesmerizing evening for 40,000 spectators gathered at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and millions of football fans watching the 67th Santosh Trophy football. After losing the semifinal to Services in 2012, Kerala thought of giving sweet revenge but failed in a penalty shootout.
After the regular 90 minutes and 30 minutes of extra time, both teams failed to move the score board which really tested the goal keeping power of Services goal keeper Nano Singh and Kerala guard Goalkeeper Jean Christian. After the penalty shoot out, Services won the match 4-2.
Both teams got a number of chances, but the forwards failed to convert those into goals. Kerala relayed mostly on forward R Kannan and captain P Rahul for both being the key players.
It was in 2004, when Kerala won the title. Services coach Sajith Kumar was seen as a proud person who shouldered the win. Having the support of the whole crowd, Kerala could not able to clinch the title from Services.
