Sreesanth arrested for match fixing in IPL 2013


Indian cricketer Sreesanth and two other Rajasthan Royals teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested by the Delhi police on charges of spot fixing in IPL 2013. These players were under the scanner for their role in the match fixing is few of the matches played in this season IPL. Sreesanth was arrested from his friend's place in Mumbai while Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested from the team hotel at Nariman Point.

Sreesanth was arrested from his friend's place in Mumbai while Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested from the team hotel at Nariman Point.

According to available information, the players were arrested just as the players returned to their team hotel after the match against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede stadium. In connection to the spot booking, seven bookies in Mumbai and three bookies in Delhi were arrested by the police. "Rajasthan Royals has zero tolerance for corruption and we will take action, if charges are proved," said Rajasthan Royals CEO Raghu Iyer in a statement issued by the team management.

"We have been informed that three of our players have been called in for investigation on spot fixing in matches. We are completely taken by surprise. We do not have the full facts at this point and are unable to confirm anything. We are in touch with the BCCI on this matter. We will fully cooperate with the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation. The management at Rajasthan Royals has a zero-tolerance approach to anything that is against the spirit of the game," the statement said.

Sreesanth who had played in 27 tests and 52 ODI's have been in the news for erroneous reasons throughout his career.
