Malayalam gets classical language status
The Central Cabinet has decided to grant the coveted recognition to the language Malayalam as one of the Classical languages. Now Malayalam joins the group of other three South Indian Languages which were declared as classical languages earlier.Cabinet also has decided to grant an amount of Rs.100 crores for the development of the language.
All the literary and cultural activists have joined to welcome this decision. This was a demand of all the people of Kerala since long. Due to several reasons it was delayed.
