Evidence of high pesticide in vegetables
It is reported that the vegetable samples collected from the markets in Kerala contained organochloro pesticides in high dozes, above the permissible limits. Such vegetables are unfit for human consumption. Ten samples out of 44 samples collected and analyzed for presence of organochloro pesticides contained it and five of these samples had residue above permissible limits.The markets from where data were collected include those at Kollam, Kottarakkara, Ernakulam, Paravoor, Thodupuzha, Kasargod, Kottayam, Manathavady and Kozhikkode. Those samples collected from Kottayam, Perumbavoor and Neyyanttinkara had excess presence of pesticides.
