A Kerala born Scientist honored in Australia.

It has become a practice in our country to honour different personalities, who contribute substantially to their respective fields of activity, on 26th January, Nation's Republic Day by awarding Padma awards. Similarly the Australian Government also honours different personalities based on their meritorious service in their fields. This is also on 26th January, the 'Australian Day'.

This year a Kerala born scientist working in Australia was there among those honoured. It is Dr. Sadanandan Nambiar, a senior Officer in the Forest Conservation Department of Australia. He was awarded the honour 'Officer of the Order of Australia', the second highest honour of the Nation for his contributions in forest conservation. In the official citation it is mentioned that the award is for his works as a scientist and author which stand as a guideline to the younger generation of scientists, and for his contribution to science especially to the forest conservation with sustainability of forests' natural productivity property.

Dr. Sadanandan Nambiar was born at Azhikkod of Kannur district of Kerala. He took his degree in Agriculture from Madras University and did his higher studies in Netherlands and Belgium. Later in 1976 he joined the services of Australian Government.

Actually there are several scientists working in different parts of the world and are producing exemplary results in their fields. Some of them are getting recognition in the form of awards or fellowships. These are not reported or even if reported less importance is given.
