In spite of his pathetic condition , Arvind Kumar Pai, Thiruvananthapuram paved his own path to win life. Being an epileptic child, he was not allowed to go outside his house. He did his studies by private registration. Bearing the neurological disorder, Arvind used to collect stamps salvaged from discarded envelops and parcel covers.Arvind has a collection of stamps of animals, birds, athlets, patriots etc. His general Knowledge comes from information sheets published by the Indian Posts and Telegraphic Department in Hindi and English. While children of his age group were fascinated by computer and mobile phones, Arvind rushed towards the world of stamps.
Arvind specialised in topical philately, collection of stamps on a particular subject or theme. His subject was Mahatma Gandhi. Today, at 28, Arvind, a corporate communications professional, claims to have one of the largest and rarest collections of Gandhi stamps in the country. More than 7,500 stamps are collected by him. His collection of Gandhi stamps dating from 1948 to 2013.
