Ingredients of Chettinad Pepper Chicken Recipe


Chicken - 2 lbs
Oil - 4 tbsp
Cinnamon (Karugapatta) - 2 sticks
Cloves (Grambu) - 4
Onion - 2(finely chopped)
Tomato - 1(finely chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Salt - As required

For Masala
Ginger – 2 pieces
Garlic pods - 5
Pepper - 2 tbsp
Dry red chilies (Kollamulaku) - 3
Fennel seeds (Perinjeerakam) - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds (Jeerakam) - 1 tsp

Preparation method of Chettinad Pepper Chicken


Step 1: Fry the ingredients for masala and grind it until to get well paste.

Step 2: Keep the big pan or pressure cooker on the stove and pour the oil in it.

Step 3: Heat the oil till sufficient hot and then add cinnamon, cloves and chopped onions and stir fry till the onions comes to golden brown color.

Step 4: Along with above mixture add turmeric powder.

Step 5: Then add chicken and ground masala again you have to stir fry for 5 minutes.

Step 6: Add chopped tomato and salt to taste.

Step 7: Pour enough water in that mixture and pressure cook it for 10 to 15 minutes.

Extra Tips
• If you are going to prepare this dish in a pan, you have to cook till chicken is tender
• You can serve this hot Chettinad Pepper Chicken with rice or chappathi.
