With 4.64 lakh getting a privilege for higher studies, now it is the duty of the higher secondary education department to facilitate requirements which would enable the students and parents to get proper admission with a desired course and college. With around 3.27 lakh seats available for students in higher secondary school's first year batch and 26,750 seats in VHSE, the single window system would play a key role in providing admission to the students.
The Kerala Plus One admission for the year 2014is being conducted through the single window system will start on 26th May. Popularly known as Ekajalakam, this online registration system is a new and innovative approach which would help students to know their status of admission in quick time. As this system is simple and transparent, it enables the candidates to choose courses according to his/her interest.
The number of Plus One seats will be increased by upgrading High Schools in 148 gram panchayats into Higher Secondary which would make 680 batches with 34,000 seats indirectly giving chance for the students to continue in the same school. Additional batches will be added up in the northern districts where by facilitating students to pursue their education. As the results of CBSE, ICSE and SSLC gets declared, the number of students applying for Kerala plus one course is expected to rise while half lakh students will have to depend on open schools.
The trial allotment of Higher Secondary / VHSE courses will begin on 11th June while the first allotment on 18th June. After two more allotments, the classes are expected to begin by 9th July.
