Kerala has an impressive number of large and small waterfalls that roar, gurgle and splash down from the mountain is really a special view and experience for everyone. These waterfalls are now venues for excursions and picnics. A large number of tourists mainly from foreign countries arrive here round the year to see the falling beauty of water. 
Athirapally waterfall : This is an awesome and one of the most popular waterfalls in Kerala. This waterfall which is situated 63 km from Thrissur is considered to be the largest waterfall in Kerala. Large number tourists arrive here daily to view the splashing down of water from a height of 80 feet. This waterfall is also known as Niagara of India.
Vazhachal waterfall : Vazhachal waterfall is situated 68km from Thrissur and is very close to Athirapally waterfall. Like Athirapally, vazhachal is also a famous waterfall in Kerala which attracts the tourists in plenty. Vazhachal waterfall is a part of Chalakudy river and is very near to dense, green forest.
Meenmutty waterfall : Meenmutty waterfall which is located at 29km from Kalpetta is one among the main tourist attraction of Wayanad. A 2km journey through the jungle is needed to view this finest waterfall and hence it is ideal for trekking. This Water fall which splash down over three stages from a height of 1000 feet is considered to be the largest waterfall in Wayanad and is the second largest in Kerala. The waterfall got its name 'Meenmutty' as large number of fishes are blocked here.
Soochipara waterfall : This waterfall is located 22km from Kalpetta and is also known as needle rock waterfall or sentinel rock waterfall. Like meenmutty, this is also a three stage waterfall. An interesting trek is needed to view this spectacular waterfall and the foot of this waterfall is ideal for quick dip. All the rocks here have the shape of needle and hence this waterfall got its name as Soochipara or needle waterfall. Monsoon season is best time to visit this place.
Attukad waterfall : Attukad waterfall is located at 9km from Munnar in Idukki district. Attukad is famous as a land of waterfalls and the way to the waterfall through the green hills is an ideal place for trekking. This waterfall is one among the main tourists attraction of Munnar. Monsoon season is best for visiting the place as number of waterfall can sea near the main waterfall. Visiting time is from 10am to 6pm and the place is open in all days.
Thusharagiri waterfall : Thusharagiri waterfall is located at Kodencherry in Kozhikode district. This waterfall with spray like formation is a feast for the eyes. Here we can see three waterfalls which diverges from a single river Chalipuzha. Waterfall got its name as Thusharagiri due to its spay like formation. Kodencherry is a plantation town where the waterfall is surrounded with different plantation species such as pepper, ginger, rubber, areca nut etc. 
Cheeyappara waterfall : A famous waterfall located between Neriamangalam and Adimali and is on the way to famous tourist place Munnar. Since this waterfall is on the roadside, there is no one who past the place without a stop. This is a seven step waterfall which is always a breathtaking experience for every viewers. During monsoon season a large number of visitors arrive here which is not only tourists from foreign countries but also locals in large number. Here we can take photos safely from behind the waterfall which is one of the specialty of this fall. Also number of shops such as tea shops, ice cream etc. situated here awaiting the tourists who stop here to view the fall.
Chethalayam waterfall : Chethalayam waterfall is located 12 km from Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad district. An interesting 4km trek through the woodlands will lead to this lovely waterfall. This is a seasonal waterfall which dry up during summer season. However many people arrive here during winter to enjoy the trekking by climbing the rocks as it is a sloppy mountain. Pass to the waterfall is available from the forest range office, Chethalayam.
Thommankuthu waterfall : A famous waterfall located 17km from Thodupuzha in Idukki district. A long trek of 12 km through dense forests and hills are required to reach this spectacular seven step waterfall and hence place is ideal for adventure tourism. Thommankuthu waterfall offers many entertaining activities for the visitors such as boating, bathing, fishing, night camping etc. The waterfall got its name after the death of a person named Thomman in this waterfall. Permitting time is from 10am to 6pm.
Palaruvi waterfall : This lovely place is situated in Kollam district. It is about 75km from Kollam. Palaruvi means stream of milk which drops from nearly 300 feet is a superb view for every visitors. The Palaruvi woods are good picnic spot and the way to waterfall is ideal for trekking
