What is 3G?


3G means Third Generation. Currently we are using the 2G technology in which only voice can be transmitted but in 3G we can also transmit video. So in short we can make video calls in cheap rates, watch TV channels through mobile, browse internet faster, download songs and movies to mobiles etc when 3G is activated in mobile phones. The advantages of 3G technology are lot more. Currently BSNL 3G service is the only 3G service provided in Kerala.

Requirements for using 3G technology
For using 3G technology you should have a 3G supported phone and a service provider (SIM card). Also the location or region you use mobile should have 3G supported coverage by service provider. Your phone should have an option to support the UMTS network mode in-order to activate 3G in your phone and you can check it in the network options in your phone.

How to get a 3G sim card?


BSNL provides 3G sim cards in Kerala. You should submit the application form along with your photo and ID proof to get the 3G sim card from BSNL. The application forms are available through BSNL customer care centers and franchises. You can also download application form from the website http://www.bsnl.co.in.


How to activate 3G in BSNL sim cards?


For activating 3G in BSNL sim cards the post paid customers have to sent 'M3G25' as SMS to 53733 and for deactivating 3G sent 'M2G' to the same number.
For activating 3G in BSNL sim card the pre paid customers have to sent 'M3G120'as SMS to 53733 and for deactivating 3G sent 'M2G' to the same number.

How to activate mobile TV in BSNL 3G sim cards?


You can activate mobile TV in your BSNL 3G sim cards by sending 'MY3GTV' as SMS to 55447. You will receive a URL to download the application for watching mobile TV in your phone. The preview of TV channels are free but activation of each channels costs additional charges. Downloading or data transfer charges are also applicable for mobile TV channels as per the plans.
To unsubscribe mobile TV in your BSNL 3G sim cards sent 'UNSUB' to 55447.
