The Kerala Forest Research Institute is situated at Nilambur. The very famous festival of Nilambur is known as'Nilambur paattu'

The major sites at Nilambur are:

Oli waterfalls: It has a very beautiful water falls and moreover the most attractive trucking facility. It situates in Mampad panchayath . There are enough bus services for reaching there.

Canoli plot: It is the first teak plantation. it situates behind Nilambur wood complex and across the Chaliyar river. Recently there is hanging bridge across the river. This plantation established in 1846 by H.V Canoli. Now about 5.657 hector is protecting permanently.
Adyanpara water falls: It is one of the major tourist site in Malappuram district.there is about 20 km from Nilambur town.The water falls is in Kanjirappuzha which originates from Velleri hills.

Nedunkayam: it is the slope of Karimbuzha Reserve and new Amarambalam. It is the station of tribal colony and famous bungalow of Dosan salve and his cemetery. . There is a bridge made up of iron rod which is very attractive.

T.K. Colony: here the music of Kottappuzha and strangeness of forest gives a new feeling. So it become one of the dearest place of tourists. There is 25km from Nilambur town.Keralamkundu water falls: it is the part of Silent valley. The water falls from several heights and ever watery water reserve are the specialty of this site. There is 5 km from Karuvarukundu. Another spot is the chinkakallu which situated in Chokkad. The specialty is the presence of stones of the river.
Nadukani: it is more suitable for plant-moth-birds observation and study. It is the beauty of heights of view. It is in the Ooty road of Nilambur near Vazhikadavu. The first hair pin turn is the rare beauty of view.

Kozhippara water falls : it is in the Chaliyar panchayath at valamthodu Kuruvambuzha. There is also bus service to there.
