Prawn – Roasted coconut Curry(Kerala style) Recipe


Prawn - 500gm
Coconut - 1 cup
Green chilly - 4
Coriander powder - 4teaspoon
Red chilly powder - 11/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1teaspoon
Garlic - 2 flakes
Curry leaves - 4 or 6 leaves
Fennel seeds - 1teaspoon
Salt - To taste
Oil - 1table spoon + 1tea spoon
Onion chopped - 1

Preparation: -
1) Cook prawn with Green Chilly,turmeric powder and salt.

2) Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a pan. Roast coconut, garlic, curry leaves and fennel seeds. When the colour of coconut changes to brown, add coriander powder and roast for 30 seconds. Add red chilly powder and turmeric powder. Turn off stove. Make a paste of it.

3) Add paste of roasted coconut to the cooked prawn. Add some water if required. When the gravy begins to boil, turn off stove.

4) Heat 1 table spoon of oil in a pan. Sauté chopped onion till the colour changes to golden brown. Add this onion and oil to prawn curry.

5) Garnish with curry leaves.

Serve prawn curry with chappathy, Rice pathiri , Rice or Neer Dosa
