Kerala Chicken Curry Recipe


1. Chicken 1 kg
2.Potatoes 4 nos
3.Onion 4 nos
4.Coriander seeds 4 tbsp
5.Red chillies 15 - 20 nos
6.Pepper 2 tbsp
7.Grated coconut 4 full cups
8.Small onions 10 to 12 nos
9.Coconut oil 4 tbsp
10.Salt as required
11.Green chillies/Ginger (longitudinal slices)
12.Water as needed
13.Small onions and curry leaves for the final tempering


1. Fry items 4, 5, and 6 together and keep aside – Mixture1
2. Fry item 7 till it turns light brown and add item# 8 and curry leaves – Mixture2
3. Grind both Mixture1 and Mixture2 separately.
4.Mix items 1, 2, 3 with Mixture1
5.Add salt as needed, and cook chicken until it turns soft.
6.Now add Mixture 2 and allow it to boil for once.
7.Temper it with sliced small onions and curry leaves in coconut oil.
