The next movie of future superstar Prithviraj- Urumi is ready. Malayalam movie Urumi is a big budget movie of Prithviraj. The total budget of the Urumi is about twenty crores. Urumi is completely a commercial movie which gives new face to Malayalam film industry. Urumi will be produced by Prithviraj, Santhosh Sivan and Shaji Natesan where Prithviraj, Genelia, Prabhudev, Tabu and Vidya Balan came in lead roles. Urumi will be released in English, Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil languages. The English title of the movie is 'The boy who wanted to kill Vasco Da Gama'. The film will be taken under August cinema banner. The script writing of Urumi has done after long researches by Shankar Ramakrishnan. As it is a historical film Shankar takes lots of effort for scripting Urumi. Urumi has already got a good popularity and even effects the release date of superstars films like China town and August 15. Prithviraj was confidence with his film and he announced that the film will be released along with China town and August 15. Urumi is an ancient weapon which is used in Kerala during 15th century. The story of Urumi is about the fighter Kelu Nair who gives his life for India. The film is about the killing attempt of Portuguese sailor Vasco Da Gama by Kelu Nair. The period of the movie Urumi is 15th century. The film tells about the social and political atmosphere of 15th century. The ancient martial art, Kalari has an important part in Urumi. The location of Urumi is Maharashtra's dense forest. The other locations are Mangalore and Udupi.
Prithviraj came as a lead role in Urumi as Kelu Nair. He has an impressive look in Urumi with long hairs and large beard and he exactly looks like a person in ancient times. Prithviraj is very confidence with Urumi and he said that it will be the first international movie of Malayalam. "Even though Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Payasiraja are the best films based on ancient Indian republic they are not up to the international level because the leaders of these films are not so famous. But Vasco Da Gama is internatinally famous", he added. Prithviraj takes a lots of effort for this movie. He even practiced Kalari for Urumi and practiced the weapon Urumi. Prithviraj added that the action scenes in Urumi is completely different. The actions are mainly through ancient martial arts. Prithviraj also said that the film will be a large success and will be remembered even after 50 years.
Genelia will come as a 15th century princess. Genelia also said that she is extremely happy with the work of Urumi and also impressed with Prithviraj acting talent. Jagathy as an important role in Urumi and will came as Chenicheri Kuruppu. Chenicheri Kuruppu is a traveler who has visited many countries and has a brilliant knowledge in various languages. Vidhya Balan came as Bhumi in Urumi who changes the life of Kelu Nair. Prabhudev will came as Vavvali who is the co-actor of the film.
Urumi will be the first movie of Arya. Arya is coming in guest role. Earlier this role was decided for Vikram but he was not able to do this project due to date clash.
