Railway Budget has been announced by the Honourable Railway Minister of India, Mamata Banerjee on 25th February 2011. It is happy to see that the announcement was on support to the common people. The budget decided to invest 576.3 billion rupees for railway development for the year 2011-2012. The highlight of Railway Budget 2011-2012 are as follows

2. Metro Coach factory in Singur and Kolkatta
3. Railway line will extend to Manipur
4. Railway Industry Park in Nandi Gram
5. Coach factory in Palakkad will start early
6. Wagon factory in Cheerthala
7. There will no man less railway crosses any more
8. Go India Smart cards for long distance journey
9. New Passenger terminal in Neemam and Kottayam.
10. 16000 soldiers will allotted for Railway for safety and security.
11. New railway line for about 700 kms, 9853 crores invested
12. Gas Power Plant in tarkul, Maharashtra.
13. Special trains for students and employers.
14. Special trains connecting best tourist places of India
15. A Cultural train will run to Bangladesh to showcase Indian culture.
16. Airport-like trolleys to be provided at more stations.
