Maha Shivaratri for the year 2011 will be celebrated on 2nd March 2011. The celebration is unique one in Aluva Shiva temple in Aluva Manappuram. The famous Shiva temple of Aluva Manappuram is situated on the banks of River Periyar. Manappuraam temple will be crowded with devotees in Shivaratri night. The devotees used to take fasting and used to chant manthras. The devotees will be awake whole night of Shivaratri with a belief that lord Shiva is just resting for that night. Many events and cultural programmes will be held on the same day to make the people alive.
