About Maha Shivarathri

Sivaratri is a festival which is celebrated every year on the 13th night/ 14th day in the Krishna Paksha of the month of Maagha. Mahashivratri or Mahashivaratri festival 2011 is being observed on March 20 this year. Being an auspicious day, people observe a day-long fast and offer prayers of Lord Shiva. Mahashivaratri is celebrated widely in the temples all over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
