It's really horrible to see the unhealthy condition of children who suffered from this toxic pesticide. Most of the children are bedridden since their birth. Most babies are not able to walk. Some parents are even trying to abort their babies because they do not want their babies to suffer the drastic situations of endosulfan all through the life. Remember that aborting babies is a hard decision. Most children in the Kasargod district are suffering from problems associated with neurology. There are parents who have aborted two or four times in their life time. In some families there may be one child who is suffering from the side effects of endosulfan. Such parents will never allow any more children in their family to suffer like this & that's why they are opting for abortions. Also note that some children may be suffering from mental retardation, hydrocephalus, physical deformities etc. Do you know what hydrocephalus is? Remember that the abnormal accumulation of fluid in the brain is known as hydrocephalus.
The use of endosulfan in Kasargod district has polluted the air, water as well as land. When compared to men, women are more suffering from the dangerous effects of this pesticide. So men are even afraid of marrying girls from the endosulfan affected areas. Some children are born blind. Cancer & infertility are other problems which the Kasargod people are suffering from endosulfan side effects. Before the use of endosulfan, the Kasargod district was in a suitable healthy condition. But now everything has changed. They have no peace & they are suffering all through the life.
